Rocky Balboa, played by Sylvester Stallone, has been in every movie in the Rocky/Creed series. His absence in Creed III, the third movie in the Creed series, leaves a big hole. The fact that the film is also Michael B. Jordan’s first time directing a full-length movie adds to the problems. Luckily for him, he was up to the task. He showed a lot of vision behind the camera and gave his best performance as Creed yet. In this third movie, Creed faces challenges he hasn’t faced before, which gives him a chance to show a different side of himself. It’s more than just a boxing movie, though there are some great fight scenes. It’s also an emotional story about facing one’s past through a new character played by Jonathan Majors, who is now 2 for 2 when it comes to performances that steal the show. He and Jordan are two of the best actors on screen, and the way they work together is worth watching for. Even though the movie is less than two hours long, it’s a shame that it didn’t use that dynamic enough. Even though the characters are good, it felt like they were rushed to get to all the big moments. When you look at the movie as a whole, it’s not a big deal.
In Creed III, retired boxer Adonis Creed (Jordan) runs a successful boxing gym in Los Angeles and helps train the next generation of fighters. At home, he lives with his wife Bianca (Thompson) and their deaf daughter Amara (Mila Davis-Kent). Damian Anderson (Majors), a childhood friend he thought he had left behind after an 18-year prison sentence, showed up out of the blue and shook up what seemed to be a perfect life. Damian was a promising boxer who, at the time, might have been better than Adonis. However, Adonis had a more successful career than Damian did. Adonis tried to help his friend get back on his feet when things had changed a lot. But, as the movie slowly showed, there was a lot more to that story. Damian was a few years older than Adonis, but he was still in great shape. He just wanted a shot, even though the odds were against him because of his age and situation. Even though he wasn’t likely to win, his luck quickly changed when he took all of his pain and anger to the ring. Damian was still able to do some things well. Visit primewire movies for more fun.
